Urla Sakız Artichoke is an early-season artichoke variety grown in Urla. It received its designation of origin registration in 2017.
The name "Sakız" refers to the early-ripening variety and has no connection to mastic gum production on the island of Chios. The official registered name is "Urla Sakız Artichoke," not "Urla Artichoke."
