History
Tepekule Mound (Old Smyrna) is İzmir's first settlement, with Bronze Age traces dating back to around 3000 BC.
Temple of Athena
The city is home to the Temple of Athena, dating to 725-700 BC, one of the oldest architectural works of the Eastern Greek world.
Later History
The city came to an end with the Persian invasion around 545 BC.
