History
Known in antiquity as Agrilia, Alaçatı had a population of about 15,000 Greeks in 1904. New residents settled the area following the 1923 population exchange.
Today
Restored since the 2000s, Alaçatı's stone houses have made it one of İzmir's most popular resort towns.
