History
Çeşme Castle was built in 1508 under Bayezid II, by architect Mir Haydar, as a defense against Venice.
Today
The castle houses the Çeşme Archaeology Museum, displaying finds from the ancient city of Erythrai. It was added to the UNESCO Tentative List in 2020.
