History
This mansion was built between 1875 and 1880 by carpet merchant Takfor Efendi. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed here during the 1923 İzmir Economic Congress and during his visits to İzmir between 1930 and 1934.
Museum
The building was nationalized in 1940 and converted into a museum in 1941.
