History
The Historic Elevator was built in 1907 by Nesim Levi (Bayraktaroğlu), to bridge a 50-58 meter elevation gap in the Karataş neighborhood.
Today
The elevator has been operated by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality since 1983. Its upper level has a terrace and café.
