Legend
The Cave of the Seven Sleepers is tied to a legend found in both Christian and Islamic tradition (the Quran's Surah Al-Kahf) about seven youths who fled persecution around AD 250 and fell asleep in the cave.
Archaeological Findings
Excavations carried out between 1926 and 1928 uncovered hundreds of tombs and inscriptions dating to the 5th and 6th centuries.
