History
Construction of the archaic Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, began around 550 BC under Lydian King Croesus.
Current State
The temple was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times over its history, with the final destruction occurring in AD 401. Today only marble fragments and foundation remains survive.
